Frequently Asked Questions
What are the worship services like?
We offer two styles of worship - traditional & contemporary. Our Traditional Worship service takes place at 8:30am with music led by our church organist and choir. Our organist leads us with traditional hymns from our hymnals. Our Contemporary Worship service takes place at 11:00am with music led by our LPC Worship Team. Pastor Kelly delivers the same message at both services.
Communion takes place the first Sunday of each month. Communion elements are served by our Elders and Deacons.
During the summer months we hold one service each Sunday at 9:30am. The style of this service changes from week to week. Some weeks are traditional and other weeks are more contemporary. Our Events page will indicate the style of worship for each Sunday.
We also have various special worship services in June that incorporate both styles of worship, such as Music Sunday and Confirmation Sunday.
When is communion served?
Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month and special services throughout the year.
Where do my children go during worship services?
Childcare is available during all services for children up to Kindergarten age.
Is there a Sunday School?
Yes! Sunday School is available for all ages, Infant through Adult from 9:45am to 10:45am. Adult classroom studies vary throughout the year. To find out more visit our Adult Education page. School age children are taught by caring adults using curriculum from Great Commission Publications. Generally there are two grade-levels per class. Classroom locations are posted near the main entrances or talk to one of our friendly greeters for directions. Sunday School runs during the school year, beginning after Labor Day and ending in early June. To find out more visit our Sunday School page.
Where do I park?
We have three on campus parking areas. We recommend parking in the lot behind the church off of Lake Avenue near the main entrance. There is also parking at our Potter’s House across Lake Avenue, and in the front of the church off of Broadway (Route 20). Handicap/Elderly parking is available in both the Broadway and Lake Avenue parking lots in the designated areas. There is additional street parking on the west side of Lake Avenue between stated signage.
What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable. You will find people here in casual attire and others in their “Sunday best”, with everything in between.
Why do I hear people use "LPC" and "EPC"?
Sometimes Lancaster Presbyterian Church is abbreviated as LPC. We are also a part of a global movement of Evangelical Presbyterian Churches, commonly referred to as EPC.
What is "Session"?
Session is a body of elected elders, responsible for the governance and spiritual oversight of our church. Active members of Session are called Ruling Elders.
